Nebraska Health Network Names the Clayton Schroeder, MD, the 2025 Innovator of the Year
(Omaha, Neb., 9/29/2025): Nebraska Health Network awarded the Innovator of the Year Award to Clayton Schroeder, MD, during its Annual Meeting on Sept. 9. The Innovator of the Year Award honors Dr. Schroeder for his leadership in improving outcomes, enhancing quality and shaping the future of health care.
Dr. Schroeder is a board-certified internal medicine physician who founded Blue Lotus Primary Care in 2023. He chose internal medicine because of the ability to provide in-depth, comprehensive care while also collaborating with specialists to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
“Dr. Schroeder is redefining what value-based care means in a practice,” said Lee Handke, PharmD, MBA, Chief Executive Officer of Nebraska Health Network. “By embracing a direct primary care model, prioritizing prevention and strengthening collaboration across the care continuum, he is ensuring patients receive proactive, personalized care that improves outcomes and reduces unnecessary hospitalizations.”
In addition to his patient-centered approach, Dr. Schroeder has become a leader in rethinking how care is delivered. His direct primary care model removes traditional barriers to access, giving patients more time with their physician and ensuring consistent follow-ups for chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension. By focusing on prevention and early intervention, he has helped patients achieve better long-term health outcomes.
