On a hot Friday in June, volunteers from Nebraska Health Network, Methodist College, Methodist Health System and the Sancta Familia Health Clinic gathered to host a community health fair at the Sancta Familia Medical Apostolate near 105th and Burt Streets.
Open to the public, the June 18, event included:
- 3D Mammography via the Methodist mobile mammography unit
- Diabetes and pre-diabetes screening via the Methodist College mobile diabetes unit
- Height, weight and BMI screeningsÂ
Attendees also had the opportunity to meet with community vendors including the Nebraska Family Helpline, Community Relay, Cologuard and more. Aetna, Bright Health and Medica all helped sponsor the free event.
Methodist College completed 22 screenings in their mobile diabetes unit and 23 patients completed a mammogram.
The event was a great opportunity to collaborate with nursing students and provide real-world clinical experience while offering patients a free benefit. In addition to promoting the event to the general community, NHN targeted unattributed members of our value-based contracts who lived within five miles of the Sancta Familia clinic. Prospects received background information on the clinic and its providers to help encourage patients to proactively address their health and establish a relationship with a primary care provider.
